ALSI participated in Public Private Mix DOTS (PPMD). It is a strategy adopted by the Department of Health in partnership with the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCAT) and other private Organizations to address the problem of TB tuberculosis in the country.
Recently, the Department of Health conducted a series of Advocacy Symposium on the prevention and control on the spread of Tuberculosis in the country.
In the province of Rizal, an advocacy symposium was held at GEMS Hotel Antipolo City facilitated by PCC (Provincial Coordinating Committee) last June 1, 2011.
The PCC is the coordinating structure at the provincial level that provides technical support and oversees engagement of all care providers and ensure sustainabilty of the partnership between the community LGU, NGO's and other private sectors.
The PCC teams guided by the DOH with PhilCAT utilized DOTS training for referring care providers participation to employ a province-wide approach for increasing case detection and synchronizing TB management of TB cases both in public and private sector.
.
ALSI then made a commitment by participating the DOTS training held at MAX's TAYTAY on June 28, 2011. Engaging all Non-NTP (National TB control Program) healthcare providers both in private and public sectors using the ISTC (International Standards for TB Care) by developing concrete plans for the engagement, understading and commitment; and working towards achieving sustainabilty of the partnership of the DOTS services provided by the Rural Health units in the Province of Rizal
